Hearts of Our People: Video Screening & Discussion of the Landmark Exhibition of the Art of Native American Women

Hearts of Our People: Video Screening & Discussion of the Landmark Exhibition of the Art of Native American Women In-Person

Join the Architecture & Fine Arts (AFA) Library and the School of Art + Art History for a deep dive into the themes highlighted in the first major art exhibition by and for Native American Women artists through time. Sponsored by the AFA library and facilitated by art historian Dr. Maya Stanfield-Mazzi and her graduate student Frances Melgarejo, we will be exploring this exhibition and listening to the artists in their own words through a series of short videos. We will discuss the traditions and culture through lines of Indigenous art as practiced by Indigenous women from antiquity to the present. The Exhibition Catalog, Hearts of Our People: Native Women Artists edited by Jill Ahlberg Yohe and Teri Greeves, is available for examination by request at the AFA Library Circulation desk.
