Agile Basics: Introduction to Scrum

Agile Basics: Introduction to Scrum In-Person

Scrum is the most popular methodology for implementing Agile development with teams. This activity and games-based workshop will introduce you to the basics of Scrum roles, ceremonies, culture, and values. Ways of organizing projects will be covered including story writing, Agile estimation, Agile prioritization, and time boxing. Groups will put their knowledge to the test with a UX (User Experience) exercise as the workshop capstone.

It is recommended that participants complete the Agile Basics: Working More Efficiently workshop as a pre-requisite for Agile Scrum Basics. We also recommend that you bring a collaborator, colleague, or friend from your department – since Scrum is a team-based development methodology, having multiple team members trained together will help you bring the lessons you have learned back to your work environment.

This workshop is being taught by Margeaux Johnson (College of Dentistry, CSM, CSPO) and Professor Ben Lok (CISE), and assisted by Tara Cataldo (Marston Science Library) and Sara Gonzalez (Marston Science Library).
