Curator Talk: Map & Imagery Library history and Cuban American Dream digital timeline In-Person

In her presentation, Map & Imagery Library: Then and Now Carol McAuliffe will discuss the history of the Map & Imagery Library and its impact. Founded in 1973 by Dr. HelenJane Armstrong, this year the Map & Imagery Library celebrates 45 years of service to the students, faculty, and staff at the University of Florida. Current initiatives, including the Maps of Cuba collaborative project, will also be discussed. Visit the Map & Imagery Library after the curator talk for a behind-the-scenes tour of the facilities.

 

Margarita Vargas-Betancourt will present The Cuban American Dream on the organization and outreach of the Cuban American Dream digital timeline. This online exhibit is based on the physical display The Cuban American Dream, exhibited in the Smathers Library’s Exhibit Gallery from March 27 to June 2, 2017. The timeline is being presented to four UF classes on Latin American history and immigration this semester.

 

A light lunch will be served from 11:30am-12 noon with informal conversation, followed by the presentations and questions and answers. Free and open to the public.
